ESPIONAGE & ENGLISH FOOTBALL – WHAT A SURPRISE!

As a postscript to our earlier post on the topic of Espionage & Football we noted that Roy Hodgson, manager of England’s football team, was quoted in the UK’s Sunday Times on 12th October 2014 as saying “we have information about opponents coming out of our ears”.

This does not of course imply he had authorised any illicit eavesdropping. Who could even dream up such a ludicrous accusation when there is so much in the public domain about England’s opponents? Hodgson somewhat ambivalently implies this superfluity of data was down to “two scouts”. Readers of Faire Sans Dire’s posts should know a lot about scouts.

Please note that you can only access the article in the Sunday Times if you subscribe to The Times Online: the link is at http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/sport/football/article1470180.ece.
