It seems Beyond Enkription has been discounted by Amazon on most of its worldwide sites. So, if you ain’t got a clue what to get your boss, colleagues, friends or family for Xmas or the festive season why not get them a copy of the novel?

If Xmas isn’t your “thing” for whatever reason and you don’t have any friends who celebrate it then you could just treat yourself to a copy. You might even get a copy signed if you’re into that sort of thing and ask nicely!

At over 180,000 words, Beyond Enkription is the longest spy novel published this century. It took more than 10,000 hours to write, review and research. Thus it ended up being an unusually large book which means it costs Amazon a lot to publish it at all Amazon stores in paperback and/or eBook format. Looking on the bright side though, there are some compelling financial reasons to buy Beyond Enkription.

It’s heavily subsidised so unless it tops some Best Sellers’ lists for six months or more we estimate we’ll have paid a lot more for you to read it than it costs you to buy it! As only a few books have recently ever been “top of whatever literary pops” there are for that long, it looks like you’ll be onto a winner. Also you can always share it with others so the more you share it the less expensive it becomes. Now you can’t do that with many presents … It also has secondary uses … next year’s bonfire night, a vampire-bat swatter or a doorstop for want of more obvious examples.

Of course, secondary uses won’t be necessary because when the series leaves James Bond in the shadows you’ll possess a first edition which should only increase in value over time. We originally only started writing The Burlington Files series so that films could be based on the series. However, after finishing Beyond Enkription we decided to publish it as a novel and did so through CreateSpace and Amazon. Since then we have written much of the second book in the series and a good chunk of what follows that.

So don’t miss this economic opportunity to buy the first stand alone novel to be published in The Burlington Files series. You can even read reviews about it on Amazon.co.uk, The Burlington Files website, Google Books and at the Review Centre. Hopefully Faire Sans Dire will be publishing more exciting news and information about the series in 2015. Incidentally, contrary to rumours going round the John Le Carré groups on Facebook, Twitter et al, the missing names of those in the Cambridge Five Dozen are not all disclosed in a flashback in Beyond Enkription. However, clues abound as to who the head honcho was and contrary to what MI5 claimed Kim Philby was not the “leader of the pack”.

SYNOPSIS OF BEYOND ENKRIPTION

Beyond Enkription is set in 1974 in the heart of the disco fevered 1970s, the Cold War and the escalating Irish Troubles in the purportedly united British Isles.

Roger and Sara Burlington have been involved in espionage since 1939. While Roger is still a member of the Joint Intelligence Committee, Sara’s address book appears to be more like a Who’s Who of NATO’s intelligence services than a housewife’s little black book. Both Roger and Sara desperately wanted their sons, Hugh and Edward, to follow in their footsteps but things didn’t go to plan given Edward’s rebellious nature.

As a consequence, Edward unwittingly ends up working as an MI6 asset. Early in 1974 he is nearly killed not once, but four times. Indirectly it is all MI6’s fault … so far as his parents are concerned. Sara decides someone high up in MI6 has to pay and persuades Roger to exact revenge. Meanwhile Edward is sent to supposed safety from London town to Nassau to continue his career as an accountant.

However, the CIA has a representative on the Joint Intelligence Committee and is therefore already aware of Edward’s exploits and capabilities. They turn him into their asset within 48 hours of his landing in Nassau.

Meanwhile Hugh’s involvement with MI6 becomes increasingly intriguing as the entangled plots and layered webs of deceit, betrayal and revenge reverberate across the world and throughout the Burlington family and their trusted supporters.
